French study sheds light on how to extend smartphone lifespan

France's telecom authority Arcep has published a report examining the main reasons influencing how long consumers keep their handsets, looking in particular at the role of the subsidised model used by mobile operators. The latter is unlikely to be a major driver of phone replacement, said the regulator, as it represents only one of the many factors that determine handset lifespan.
