It was a retirement party with a difference. The Jawans at Jaipur airport were pulling the jeeps that had dogs sitting in them. Six sniffers dogs, three males and three females -- Bario, Edison and Benson and Xena, Krissy and Edana -- got a ceremonial retirement on Wednesday after a successful service term of 10 years in the dog squad of CISF at Jaipur airport.
Now five others have replaced them. It was the first batch of dogs inducted in CISF at Jaipur airport in 2011-12. "All of them are labradors as they were found most suitable for the security of the airport because it is a sensitive place. Dogs serve up to the age of 10," said YP Sing, Commandant CISF.
A retirement party was organised at the Jaipur airport in which all the officials of the airport and CISF were present and dogs were given a send-off like senior officers.

The dogs were trained at an ITBP centre in Panchkula and have had many laurels to their names. For eg, Bario participated in the All India Police Meet in 2019, while Edana was deployed at Srinagar airport and Benson had participated in the Republic Day parade.
After retirement, the dogs will be handed over to private handlers through a committee. The five newly trained dogs of the same breed inducted into the dog squad of CISF at the airport include four males named Prince, Max, Britto, Rocky and one female called Moly.
