MediaTek has added two new SoCs to its growing Helio lineup of chipsets. These are Helio G96 and Helio G88 that will help OEMs to bring more budget and mid-range phones to the market. The two chipsets support 4G LTE and not 5G.

MediaTek has outlined only a few key specifications of the two chipsets. While the MediaTek Helio G96 supports 120Hz displays, the MediaTek Helio G88 supports 90Hz displays. The Helio G96 supports fast 4G LTE with dual 4G SIM and the Helio G88 gets to support the dual 4G VoLTE.

MediaTek Helio G88 is an octa-core CPU that features two ARM Cortex-A75 CPUs operating at up to 2.0GHz. It supports a 64MP main sensor, whereas the Helio G96 supports 108MP main cameras. Both the new chipsets support MediaTek’s HyperEngine 2.0 Lite generation technology. This tech intelligently manages CPU, GPU, and memory to enable a smooth gaming experience. It can also offer low-latency connections by managing multiple networks intelligently. The tech can also manage resources to provide consistently high FPS while also maximizing battery life. The technology is said to enable intelligent prediction of Wi-Fi and 4G connection concurrency.

MediaTek hasn’t yet announced when the new chipsets will launch into the market and what OEMs will make use of them for their phones.
