Equity mutual funds continued to attract investors in the month of June 2021 as Indian share markets hit record highs.
However, the participation was not as high as seen in the month of May as investors booked some profits.
Net inflows into equity mutual fund schemes fell by half in June 2021 from the previous month and stood at Rs 46.1 bn in June.
This compared with Rs 92.4 bn in May 2021.
The contribution of monthly systematic investment plan (SIP) increased marginally to Rs 91.6 bn in June, an all-time high, from Rs 88.2 bn in May 2021.
It must be noted that prior to March 2021, the equity segment did witness net outflows for eight continuous months.
With net inflows in the recent four months, investors are gaining conviction on Indian equity markets.

However, overall net inflows into equity schemes in the first six months of 2021 disappointed.
Net inflows were at Rs 40.4 bn in January to June of this year compared to robust inflows of Rs 411.4 bn in the same period last year.

Largecaps: Indian mutual funds trimmed their positions in largecap stocks such as Hindustan Zinc, NMDC, Adani Enterprises, Dabur India and Titan in June.
Midcaps: Among midcap stocks, the highest-selling was seen in JSW Energy, Vodafone Idea, Sun TV Network, Petronet LNG, and Alkyl Amines.
Smallcaps: From the smallcap space, mutual funds trimmed positions in Easy Trip Planners, Rane Holdings, SpiceJet and Happiest Minds Technologies in June.
Largecaps: Coming to buying, Indus Towers, SBI Cards and Payment Services, JSW Steel, HDFC Life and Godrej Consumer witnessed massive inflows.
Midcaps: From the midcap space, fund managers loaded up shares of Sona BLW Precision Forgings, TVS Motors and Indian Bank.

The midcap fund category attracted higher investments with net inflows of Rs 17.3 bn.
Smallcaps: Recently listed IPOs of Dodla Dairy, KIMS, and Shyam Metalics were the top buys from smallcap space.
Apart from the above, Orchid Pharma and Zensar Tech were also the top picks.
