HYDERABAD: Popular shrine in Telangana, over 50 people including priests and staff of Chilkur Balaji temple, about 30 kilometres from Hyderabad city, took Covid vaccine doses, on Thursday. An NGO and private hospital, jointly organised this vaccine camp at Gaushala of the temple.
This is the first temple in Telangana where all the staff and priests and their families have taken vaccines, according to pradhana archaka of the Chilkur temple, CS Rangarajan.
The temples and all religious places must act as catalysts in promoting vaccination to meet the Telangana government’s target in vaccination drives in this pandemic situation. In fact, the staff working in the shrines and priests performing rituals and offering ‘prasadams’ to the devotees, are to be considered as ‘frontline’ workers on the lines of police, health and civic body staff, said Rangarajan.
Drive started at 9am and continued up to 1pm.
