Bulldogs hit 'Bondi five' with more fines
Canterbury's 'Bondi five' have been slapped with undisclosed fines from the club for breaching the NRL's COVID-19 bubble last month.
In addition to $9750 worth of fines already handed down by the NRL, Dylan Napa, Brandon Wakeham, Corey Waddell, Sione Katoa and Aaron Schoupp were forced to front the Bulldogs board for individual disciplinary meetings this week.
They were each hit with further monetary sanctions, with the club saying the funds will go towards Bulldogs community programs.
"These players breached the standards and expectations we set as a club and they have been penalised accordingly," said CEO Aaron Warburton in a statement.
Napa copped the biggest fine from the NRL after being stung $5000, while other fines ranged down to $250.
The NRL also hit the Canterbury club with a $50,000 breach notice for failing to properly communicate the COVID-19 protocols to the players.
The five visited a pub in Bondi which became an exposure site.
All were forced to quarantine for 14 days and were only free to return to training last week.
