Noida: The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) will monetise its under-utilised or unused parking lots at various stations.
The company will rent out the spots at these locations to
food truck operators to generate revenue.
NMRC has invited ‘expressions of interest’ (EOI) from vendors to set up food trucks at various stations. Each truck will be given an area of around 25sqm to set up its service.
According to NMRC officials, 15 stations have been offered for food, recreational and utility truck facilities. The vendors will organise their own waste management system and set up the costs.
An official release by the metro service providers said, “NMRC will be providing the vendors with electricity charges. The selection of the candidate will be based on the highest bids. The bidders will have to deposit a processing fee of Rs 10,000 to apply for the scheme.
The EOI must be submitted by August 6. Vendors will be allowed a fixed time of 9am to 10.30pm to operate the vans.” In January this year, NMRC had stopped providing parking facilities at five stations, including Sector 91, Pari Chowk, Sector 101 and Sector 142.
Parking is currently available at Sector 51, 76, Knowledge Park II, Alpha I and Delta I stations. Parking rates for the first six hours for cars at these stations is Rs 20 with an additional Rs 10 per hour and maximum Rs 40.
Monthly parking for cars can be availed at Rs 800. Bikes can be parked for six hours at Rs 10, additional Rs 5 per hour and maximum rate at Rs 20. The monthly charge is Rs 400.
Ridership of NMRC’s Aqua Line has been hit by two consecutive Covid waves. While the daily average of Aqua Line was around 28,000 prior to the pandemic, it is yet to hit the 10,000 mark after the second wave.
NMRC MD Ritu Maheshwari did not respond to queries on the company’s projected revenue gain from the leasing service to food trucks.
