SRM students’ start-up helps in providing video auditing solutions

“I went to UC Berkeley for a semester abroad program. I lost my mobile phone in a park there. We waited for the 30 second long CCTV footage for almost 10 days. After research, we realised that enterprises around the world have over a billion cameras that are placed on walls solely recording data to hard drives and that data is used only for analysing events after they happen. This sparked an idea in our minds to start a business of an AI-based real-time virtual video auditing solution,” Junaidi told TOI.
Sanyal, co-founder of the start-up, said that they contacted thousands of investors over email and messages and are now receiving huge responses. “The project received $35000 from Sanjay Mehta led 100X.VC. The company started 10 months ago in Bangalore and is now analysing 5000 hours of CCTV camera footage every day and conducting virtual audits. Our idea is saving a lot of time in identify thefts and other incidents reported in business units,” Sanyal said.
Ghanekar said that their start-up presently comprises 23 team members including the three co-founders. Being used by 11 companies across 17 outlets, the start-up generated over $120,000 to fuel its mission of Bringing Camera to Life.
SRM AP vice-chancellor Prof. Vajja Sambasiva Rao felicitated the students and handed over a cash prize.
