VARANASI: Prime Minister
Narendra Modi on Thursday heaped praise on Uttar Pradesh (UP) chief minister Yogi Adityanath for not only his "commendable" management of Covid situation but also for the overall development of the state in the past four-and-a-half years.
The Prime Minister was speaking at
IIT-Banaras Hindu University ground from where he launched projects worth Rs 1,583 crore.
“UP, which has more population than some countries in the world, not only tackled the second wave of Covid but also checked its spread. The state conducted maximum testing and is a front runner in vaccinating the people”, said PM Modi while addressing the function.
He also lauded the development of medical infrastructure in the state, where tackling diseases like encephalitis used to be difficult, historically.
Mentioning Yogi’s dedicated efforts for state's overall development, improvement in law and order, checking menace of mafia elements, terror modules and creating atmosphere to attract investments in industrial sector, the Prime Minister said, “The list of development work is so long that one really finds it difficult to choose what to count and what to leave out.”
PM Modi also complimented Yogi for personally monitoring the progress of development projects in Kashi. He said it was because of the UP chief minister's dedication and able administration that the state was getting investment. The Prime Minister further said that earlier as well, the Centre used to push projects for Varanasi and UP but Yogi’s predecessor would create obstacles.
Regarding special package of Rs one lakh crore for agriculture sector, he said, "It will change fate of mandis by equipping them with advanced facilities. It will give more options to farmers for selling their produces. Expressways and wide highways are being developed in the state not only for vehicular movements, but also to boost the protest of farm sectors as special clusters of agro products will also develop along them."
