The police used water cannons to disperse Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) workers near Sector 25 ground protesting against the Punjab state government for failing to keep up the promises to the Schedule caste and for the kind of treatment given to the Dalits.
The party SC Morcha was marching towards CM Capt Amarinder Singh's residence in Sector 2 when the police stopped the members and workers and used water cannons to disperse the crowd.
The party claimed that the Punjab government led by Amarinder Singh failed to deliver its promise of employment, scholarship displacement, loan waivers to the Schedule caste community.
The SC morcha said that the Punjab government has been partial and that the ruling Congress government in the state delivered injustice to the Dalit community.

The SC morcha was on their way to CM's residence to gherao and protest against certain issues surrounding the Dalit community.
The Punjab unit of BJP, on Wednesday, demonstrated a protest in front of CM Captain Amarinder Singh’s official residence, against attacks on BJP workers and leaders in the state. They protested against the recent attacks on its workers in Rajpura and Patiala. BJP State President Ashwani Sharma demanded immediate action against the misconduct of the miscreants.
Earlier, Delhi Police used water cannons to disperse Delhi BJP leaders and workers as they tried to cut the water connection to Delhi Jal Board chairman (DJB) Satyendar Jain's house on Monday to protest the alleged poor water supply in the city.
Punjab is due to Assembly elections in March 2022.
