More than 100 cases in region reported after 2 days

Nagpur: The daily case count of region crossed the 100-mark on Wednesday mainly due to increase in number of tests in last 24 hours. The 11 districts had collectively performed below 20,000 RT-PCR and rapid antigen tests on previous two days.
The region had recorded lowest tally of the month at 79 on Tuesday when daily testing had fallen to 18,407. There were 86 new cases on Monday.
The daily figures had dropped to zilch in Gondia on Tuesday as only seven tests were done. The district’s testing shot up to 1,398 on Wednesday. Fortunately, only one came positive, which was also lowest for any district on Wednesday.
Vidarbha’s positivity rate stood at 0.5% with detection of 124 Covid patients from 23,684 tests on Wednesday.
The day witnessed four deaths including two from Nagpur, and one each from Akola and Amravati.
Nagpur’s Covid fatalities included one death from city and the other of an outside district patient. The district’s daily testing too increased by over 2,000 to reach 8,049. After a gap of couple of days, a few samples ranging from one to seven tested positive at the four public labs.
Also, no deaths were recorded in Bhandara, Wardha, Gondia, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Yavatmal, Buldhana and Washim.
The day’s highest cases were reported from Amravati at 21.
The region recorded 149 recoveries. No patient was discharged at Gondia on Wednesday.
Now, Vidarbha now 712 patients under treatment with six districts having less than 50.
Gadchiroli: No Covid death was reported and the toll is 741 for last seven days. The district reported 15 new cases and 20 recoveries. The district now has 143 active cases.
Washim: The district has not report any Covid death in the last six days. The daily cases decreased to five while 18 patients recovered. The toll is 622 while 89 patients are under treatment.
Bhandara: The district reported two cases and no Covid death, leaving the toll at 1,029. There were two recoveries and six active cases.
Gondia: The district did not report any Covid death. There were no new cases and recoveries during the day. Now, 15 patients are under treatment.
Buldhana: The district witnessed 16 new Covid cases. No Covid death took place. According to official data, the district reported 19 recoveries. This left 37 active cases.
Akola: The district reported two recoveries against 11 cases and a Covid death. The active cases are 53.
Amravati: A spike of 21 cases took the caseload to 96,352 while death of a 45-year-old man from Morshi tehsil took the toll to 1,559. The day saw 48 recoveries taking the total up to 94,591, leaving 202 patients under treatment.
Yavatmal: No death was report on the 26th consecutive day and toll remained unchanged at 1,789. Of the 795 reports received in 24 hours, six came positive. Currently, there are 22 patients under treatment. Of the 72,775 patients reported so far, 70,967 including five on Wednesday have recovered. The daily positivity rate is 0.75 %.
Chandrapur: Wednesday was yet another no casualty day and toll remained at 1,533 for the fifth consecutive day. There were 17 new detections, while nine recoveries were reported, leaving 152 patients under treatment. The caseload has increased to 84,846, while recoveries stand at 83,179.
Wardha: Eight new cases and nine recoveries were reported on Wednesday, taking the caseload to 49,311 and recoveries to 47,952, leaving 37 patients under treatment. On Wednesday, 1,029 reports were received. No death was reported and toll remained at 1,322.
