CHENNAI: Traffic was disrupted at Adyar in Chennai for more than three hours on Thursday morning after an oil tanker overturned. All the oil in the tanker spilled on the road, making the road slippery.
Motorists had a tough time crossing the stretch. Vehicles proceeding towards Marina Beach were diverted.
The accident happened around 7am. Police said the truck was carrying oil -- used for manufacturing soaps -- from a company at Medavakkam. When the vehicle reached Durgabai Deshmukh Road, driver Ramlal from Rajasthan lost control. The vehicle hit the median and overturned. The driver suffered injuries on his head and legs.

The Adyar traffic investigation police rushed to the spot. They sprinkled sand on the road to prevent other vehicles skidding.
