TATA STEEL at All Time High; BSE METAL Index Up 0.8%

TATA STEEL share price has hit an all-time high at Rs 1,258 (up 1.0%).

Meanwhile, the BSE METAL Index is at 19,285 (up 0.8%).

Among the top gainers in the BSE METAL Index today are TATA STEEL (up 1.0%) and JSW STEEL (up 1.0%).

COAL INDIA (down 0.4%) and NALCO (down 0.5%) are among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, TATA STEEL has moved up from Rs 342 to Rs 1,258, registering a gain of Rs 916 (up 267.5%).

The BSE METAL has moved up from 7,632 to 19,285, registering a gain of 11,653 points (up 152.4%) during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE METAL Index stocks during this same period were TATA STEEL (up 267.5%), JSW STEEL (up 256.5%) and SAIL (up 249.7%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 53,229 (up 0.6%). The top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today are L&T (up 4.1%), HCL TECHNOLOGIES (up 3.8%) and TECH MAHINDRA (up 2.2%). Other gainers include HDFC BANK (up 1.6%) and ULTRATECH CEMENT (up 1.1%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are HCL TECHNOLOGIES and L&T.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 15,941 (up 0.5%). The top gainers in the NSE Nifty include L&T (up 4.1%), HCL TECHNOLOGIES (up 3.9%) and TECH MAHINDRA (up 2.4%). Other gainers include WIPRO (up 2.2%) and HDFC BANK (up 1.6%).

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 36,694 to 53,229, registering a gain of 16,535 points (up 45.0%).

TATA STEEL Financial Update...

TATA STEEL net profit stood at Rs 70 billion for the quarter ended March 2021, compared to a profit of Rs 39 billion a year ago. Net Sales rose 26.2% to Rs 499.8 billion during the period as against Rs 395.9 billion in January-March 2020.

For the year ended March 2021, TATA STEEL reported 698.6% increase in net profit to Rs 78.6 billion compared to net profit of Rs 9.8 billion during FY20.

Revenue of the company grew 4.9% to Rs 1,563 billion during FY21.

The current Price to earnings ratio of TATA STEEL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 19.3x.
