In the most recent episode of Simone vs Herself, Simone said that she reached out to Sasha to “spice” up her routine.

“Usually, I have a different choreographer, but this year I felt like we needed to be a little bit different, spice it up,” she explained. “Whenever I worked with Sasha on Dancing with the Stars, we always said, ‘Oh my gosh, if we could do a floor routine, how cool would that be?’”

Sasha also opened up about working with Simone.

“From the first day to be where she is already, I can’t wait to see what it’s like in months to come,” he shared.

Simone actually premiered the new routine at the U.S. Classic. The Olympics’ women’s gymnastics competition is set to begin July 25 in Tokyo, Japan.

Simone and Sasha‘s team up isn’t the first. Ice dancers Meryl Davis and Charlie White worked with Derek Hough for their own gold-medal winning Olympic routine.
