CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin on Wednesday directed the revenue and disaster management department to expedite measures to resolve the grievances of people, especially of those who had petitioned under “Ungal Thoguthiyil Muthalamaichar (CM in your constituency). The administrative machinery should ensure early delivery of online certificates.
Stalin was addressing a review meeting at the secretariat ahead of the budget session. “The meeting discussed strengthening the administrative setup of disaster management and installation of high number of rain gauges to measure the precipitating rain accurately. The CM also advised a real time flood monitoring and warning system to monitor the situation in reservoirs daily and disseminate the information immediately about the danger of floods,” an official release said.
Stalin told officials to prevent the hassles faced by the people during rainy days and take all precautionary measures. The relief material and rescue teams should be kept ready.
The department should avail all technological advancements in the field. The chief minister said the communication network with fishermen in the deep sea should be upgraded. “An online platform should be created to connect those who seek machinery and relief material and the volunteers to support them to prevent the loss of lives, livestock and material during disasters.”
Stalin told the officials to evolve a long-term plan to resurvey the lands availing modern equipment in all districts, besides modernising the land documents, village documents and online facilities for appeals relating to land issues. “The CM advised the land administration department to set up a separate social impact assessment wing and a unit for resettlement and rehabilitation to resolve the difficulties in handing over house sites, set right land acquisition issues and provide alternative lands for those staying in water course poramboke lands through rural development/slum clearance board,” the release said.
Under Section 37A and 37B of the Tamil Nadu Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Act, 1961, efforts must be taken to simplify the procedures to grant online sanction in six months to the lands sought by the industrial and commercial undertakings and public trust, the chief minister said.
