85-year-old woman fatally struck by tow truck in NYC

An 85-year-old woman was fatally struck by a tow truck near Union Square Park in Manhattan on Wednesday afternoon, cops said.

Antoinette Turrigiano, of Queens, was hit just before 2 p.m. as she crossed East 17th Street near Broadway midblock, according to the NYPD.

First responders rushed to the scene, but Turrigiano could not be saved, police said.

The woman was reportedly crossing in the middle of E. 17th St. when she was struck.

The tow truck driver remained on the scene, and cops said they do not expect to file charges.

Police on Wednesday night said the investigation was ongoing.
