Whatever the outcome of the CAF Champions League final, Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr has faith that Amakhosi are headed in the right direction as a club.

The Glamour Boys are set to board a flight to Morocco on Wednesday for their mouth-watering Champions League decider against Al Ahly at the Mohamed V Stadium on Saturday.

Speaking to the club's media department ahead of boarding the airplane, Motaung said the match will be an "historic and momentous occasion".

"Football-wise this is a very important time because we're looking to evolve our way of playing," said Motaung.

"To do that you have to be the best in your country, the best on the continent and of course looking to challenge your skills with the best of Europe, the South Americas and other areas have to offer in the World Club championships.

"It goes a long way in developing the kind of football and philosophy that you want to bring to the table to create sustainability, to bring long-term success and that starts off the back of winning massive tournaments, like the Champions League."

This will be the Soweto giants' first Champions League final in their 51-year history.

For Al Ahly, they are on the brink of history and a victory on Saturday will see the Red Devils record 10th continental title.

"The Champions League in itself is that we stand with giants that have gone before us, with all that has been achieved at this great institution, no Khosi warrior, no Khosi player have played or put their foot in a Champions League final," said Moatung.

"I feel that it is a very unique opportunity for everyone now but at the same time it comes with great responsibility - even bigger than that - the importance of football in this country and how it unifies people will play another massive role."

Kick-off is at 21:00 (SA time) on Saturday.
