Teco Electric & Machinery and power supply maker Phihong Technology will cooperate to produce levels 2 and 3 fast power charging piles for electric vehicles (EVs) in the US, according to Teco.

Teco's US-based subsidiary Teco-Westinghouse Motor and Phihong's US-based subsidiary will partner with Getka Manufacturing, US-based Getka Group's newly established subsidiary, to set up a factory in Oklahoma, the US, with construction to begin in August 2021, Teco said.

The factory's power supply will be based on Getka Group's carbon neutrality method, with UPS to rely on PV-generated power and backup batteries, Teco noted. The levels 2 and 3 fast charging piles to be produced will targeted electric commercial vehicles and buses in the US market, Teco indicated.

Teco has provided EV-use 50-350kW power systems and in addition to the domestic markets is tapping markets in Indonesia, Turkey and Poland, company chairperson Sophia Chiu said. Teco aims at revenues of NT$300 million (US$10.7 million) from EV-use product lines in 2021.

Teco has reported consolidated revenues of NT$4.867 billion for June, increasing 9.64% on month and 10.45% on year. Consolidated revenues of NT$13.489 billion for second-quarter 2021 grew 13.25% on quarter and 19.79% on year, and those of NT$25.4 billion for January-June rose 16.66% on year.
