INDIA GETS ITS 10TH P-8I AIRCRAFT

Published

Indian Navy, on Tuesday, got its tenth Poseidon-8I long-range maritime reconnaissance anti-submarine warfare aircraft. The P-8I, which had taken off from the Boeing facility, landed at INS Hansa in Goa. INS Hansa will be getting the remaining two of these aircrafts, whose delivery was delayed due to the pandemic, in the coming weeks.

While some of these aircrafts are presently stationed at INS Rajali, Arakkonam, Tamil Nadu and are used by the Eastern command that is responsible for all naval forces in the Bay of Bengal and parts of the Indian Ocean, the remaining are under Western command which is responsible for the naval forces in the Arabian Sea and parts of the Indian Ocean.

The P-8I (I in P-8I stands for India) was extensively used during the recent border stand-off with China.

The patrol aircraft is an integral part of the Indian Navy’s fleet and has surpassed 30,000 flight hours since it was inducted in 2013. This is the second aircraft to be delivered under an option contract for four additional aircraft that the Indian Ministry of Defence awarded the company in 2016. The Indian Navy was the first international customer for the P-8 and today operates the largest non-US fleet. The P-8 is also operated by the US Navy, Royal Australian Air Force and the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force.

Boeing is also providing training to Indian Navy flight crews who are associated with P-8I apart from spare parts, ground support equipment and field service representative support.

The US-based MNC is currently completing construction of a training, support and data handling centre at INS Rajali, Arakkonam, Tamil Nadu and a secondary maintenance training centre at Naval Institute of Aeronautical Technology, Kochi, Kerala as part of a training and support package contract signed in 2019.

This new indigenous, ground-based training will allow Indian Navy crew to increase mission proficiency in a shorter time while reducing on-aircraft training time resulting in increased aircraft availability.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah left for Delhi, on Tuesday morning, after a three-day visit to Gujarat. Now Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming to Gujarat on 16 July. PM Modi will inaugurate the Aquatic and Robotic Gallery, and Nature Park in Science City, Ahmedabad. He will also inaugurate the newly constructed hotel near Gandhinagar railway station. Assembly elections are to be held in Gujarat in 2022 and it seems that the BJP has started preparations owing to the Aam Aadmi Party’s interest in the state.

In April, there was the Covid-19 pandemic’s second wave and in the last phase of the Bengal Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi suspended campaigning. For the first time since then, he will be holding public visits and tours in Gujarat.

PM Modi will inaugurate some projects at Science City. The Aquatic Gallery features cam show-type aquatic animals. The Robotic Gallery showcases how and where robots can be used in our daily activities. Also, a large nature park has been set up.

With the development of the Gandhinagar railway station, a modern hotel has been constructed there. Reportedly, Rs 330 crore has been spent on the seven-storey hotel with four presidential suites, which will also be inaugurated by PM Modi. Besides this, projects of various ministries of the Government of India will also be inaugurated and finalised by the Prime Minister.

It is to be noted that all the four zones of Gujarat have got ministerial posts in the recent cabinet expansion of PM Modi’s government. With the BJP winning all 26 parliamentary seats in Gujarat, four out of 26 MPs from Gujarat and three members of the Rajya Sabha have been given ministerial posts including a key post from North Gujarat, that is Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while Parshottam Rupala, Mansukh Mandaviya and Dr Mahendra Munjpara have been included. Rupala and Mandaviya have been promoted to Cabinet Ministers on merit, while Darshana Jardosh, a woman MP from South Gujarat, and Devusinh Chauhan from Central Gujarat have been given the post of Union Ministers.

With regards to Gujarat’s upcoming 2022 elections, the caste equation of the ministers included in the Union Cabinet has also been observed in which two Patidars and three OBCs have got a place. Political activities in Gujarat have intensified since June. Especially since the AAP became active, the BJP has also started preparations for the 2022 Assembly elections. After Arvind Kejriwal’s visit in June, AAP workers have started digging in Gujarat, while after BJP state in-charge Bhupendra Yadav and Amit Shah’s visit, BJP leaders, workers, MLAs and ministers were ordered to go among the people. The government has started the inauguration, closing, and approval of 113 developers one after another.

Supporters of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national secretary Pankaja Munde are unhappy over her sister Pritam Munde Khade not getting a ministerial berth in the recent Cabinet expansion by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Miffed over not being accommodated in the Cabinet, 100 BJP workers from Beed and 50 workers from Ahmadnagar had resigned. Pankaja Munde had called a meeting of her close associates and loyalists in Mumbai on Tuesday. She said, “She never demanded anything from anyone. People have given to her. We are grateful to people for their love and support. It is not the culture of late Munde saheb to resign if we do not get ministerial berth. I am not greedy for power.”

Pankaja Munde said that her father, the late Gopinath Munde, worked his entire life to bring all downtrodden people in mainstream politics. He brought Pankaja Munde to politics not to make her a minister or get any positions; not for the family too. “We are here to help people.”

Reiterating that neither Pritam nor she desired a ministerial berth, Munde said, “Munde saheb (Gopinath Munde) always gave higher posts to people from society’s lower sections. He didn’t bring Pritam and me into politics to become ministers. When he passed away, Maharashtra BJP offered me a minister’s post, but I refused. Pritam and I have no desire for it.”

Pankaja Munde had met PM Narendra Modi and party chief J.P. Nadda on Sunday in Delhi. She said in her meeting with the PM, they discussed only about party issue. “I only conveyed that supporters are angry and resigned; however, Modiji told me to convince supporters not to resign. It was a good meeting. No one slammed me in Delhi.” Pankaja Munde refuted reports that in PM’s meeting in Delhi, she was insulted.

Pankaja Munde said: “Big leaders always sacrifice. The party has given me enough respect.” Pankaja said that her leaders are PM Modi, Amit Shah and Nadda. “I do not want to do pressure politics,” Pankaja added.

After the arrest of two suspected Al-Qaeda terrorists in Lucknow, another big revelation has emerged during investigation. A few days ago, the Uttar Pradesh ATS had arrested two terrorists Minhaj Ahmed and Naseeruddin in Lucknow. Sources told The Daily Guardian that the ATS has got a diary from Minhaj, in which much important information has also been found. Many things have been written in code language, which the ATS is engaged in decoding; he used to talk to his colleagues through Telegram app. Sources claim that messages were decoded on Telegram.

Sources said that during the interrogation conducted on Monday night, both remained silent on most questions. Sources said that it may be possible that there are many youths of the state in contact with Omar Halmandi, who is operating the Indian subcontinent module of Al Qaeda from the Pakistan-Afghanistan border area. This is the reason that after the capture of both the terrorists, a high alert has been issued regarding security of other major places of the state, including Ayodhya, Kashi and Mathura.

Information is also being obtained about the places from where Minhaj and his associates had bought the explosive material. All those people who had provided explosives and weapons are being identified. The teams have made preparations to recover more items by marking everyone through Minhaj. According to sources, the pistol recovered from Minhaj’s house was provided by someone from Kanpur. The ATS team has gathered information about him.

Sources also said that lakhs of rupees were transferred by Minhaj to Tauheed of Jammu and Kashmir in his account. Information is being obtained about those accounts. Along with this, complete details and mobile details about Tauheed are being searched. At the behest of Minhaj, the public service centre has to be verified from where the money was deposited in the account provided by Tauheed.

ADG (Law and Order), Uttar Pradesh, Prashant Kumar had told reporters on Sunday, “UP ATS has uncovered a big terror module. The team has arrested two terrorists linked with Al Qaeda’s Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.” The suspects were plotting terror attacks across Uttar Pradesh ahead of August 15 (Independence Day),.
