Kolkata: West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be hitting the streets next month demanding reduction of electricity prices in the state.

At a time when the ruling Trinamool Congress is agitating over the price hike of petroleum products by the BJP led Central government, to counter TMC’s agitation BJP will also hit the streets in August.

Talking exclusively with Free Press Journal, West Bengal BJP general secretary Sayantan Basu alleged that the TMC gets donations from electricity companies for which the consumption rate of electricity is high.

“The TMC is known for syndicates. The electricity companies also have to pay to the ruling Trinamool Congress for which they have increased the rate which in turn makes the lives of common people miserable. We will hit the streets and will block entire Kolkata with our agitation programs,” stated Basu.

Slamming the TMC’s alleged appeasement politics, the BJP general secretary said that the TMC government helps the minorities to hook electricity but is not bothered for the general class.

“The TMC is agitating over the price hike of the petroleum products. They should first cut down on the taxes they charge on petroleum products and should also cut electricity consumption rate in West Bengal,” further added Sayantan also mentioning that the TMC is urging for bypolls but is not bothered about the well being of the common people.
