London, Jul 14 (UNI) England's white-ball regulars including captain Eoin Morgan on Wednesday returned to the squad for the T20I series against Pakistan after completing their required period of self-isolation following a Covid-19 outbreak in the team before the ODI series.
Three players and four support staff members from the contingent originally picked to take on Pakistan in the ODIs had tested positive for Covid-19 and England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had to name a revised squad.
The new England sqaud led by Ben Stokes for the ODIs still ended up sweeping 3-0 against Pakistan.
The top performers from the ODI leg including Lewis Gregory, Jake Ball, Saqib Mahmood, Matt Parkinson have made it to the 16-man T20I squad.
The likes of Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Mooen Ali, and Jos Buttler also make a comeback.
Paul Collingwood will oversee the team as head coach Chris Silverwood will depart for a break.
Meanwhile, Stokes has been granted a rest. Also missing from the T20I squad that played Sri Lanka are Chris Woakes, Sam Curran, Mark Wood, Liam Dawson and Sam Billings.
Speaking on the selections, Silverwood said, "We have selected a T20 squad that sees the return of many of our most experienced players after their period of isolation.
"Additionally, we have rewarded some of the players involved in the 50-over series win with selection which allows us to manage multi-format players as we prepare for the much-anticipated Test series against India."
Silverwood was also effusive in his praise for Stokes, who led the side to a 3-0 clean sweep over Pakistan in the 50-over series.
"I would like to express my thanks to Ben Stokes and the players for their efforts over the last week, and the counties for their support in getting this series on,' he said.
The T20I series will get underway at Trent Bridge on July 16 and conclude at Old Trafford on July 20.
