Copa America 2021: Messi & Ronaldo Bidi – Copa America & Euro 2020’s top-scorers ‘brand ambassadors’ of Bidi companies? – Lionel Messi ended his draught of trophies with Argentina by winning the Copa America 2021 defeating Brazil in the final. Many photos and videos of the celebrations went viral on social media throughout the world. But one photo that went viral in India was of a Bidi cover featuring Argentina captain Lionel Messi. His arch-rival and Euro 2020’s top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo also has a Bidi brand using his portrait on their cover. 

Copa America 2021: On Tuesday, on Indian social media, a photo went viral in which Messi’s photo can be seen on a Bidi bundle. The name of the bidi is ‘Messi Biri’. 

Copa America 2021: Leo’s Indian fans started posting funny tweets after seeing the photo. One fan wrote, “congratulations on the endorsement”. While the other wrote, “Smoke and you will never miss a penalty in life. Special packing for England team.”

Copa America 2021: Another fan claimed that this bidi was the secret behind Messi’s success in Copa America. “Secret behind Copa America success #MessiCampeon“, he wrote. 

Earlier, in 2018 same kind of photo of Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo went viral on social media. The photo had a portrait of Ronaldo’s face on the bidi cover with New Ronaldo Biri Factory written on it.

“We have thousands of Bidi manufacturers in this town and for us too branding is important. There is not a single person in this state who hasn’t heard of Messi and since the World Cup is on, it makes a lot of sense to bring out special edition bidis named after football stars,” a bidi manufacturer was quoted as saying by Inuth in 2018. 

Messi and Ronaldo were the top scorers in the Copa America and Euro 2020 respectively.
