HOLBY City viewers were left in tears last night after Sacha told Carole Copeland she has rapidly progressing vascular dementia.
Dom’s adoptive mum Carole – who is played by Julia Deakin in the BBC One medical drama – came into hospital with a burn on her arm.
However, it soon became clear she was hiding a more serious ailment as Sacha realised she was having memory problems and took her for an MRI scan.
Upset by Dom’s cold attitude towards her, Carole quizzed Ange and was shocked when she revealed he’d been in a terrible car accident and had suffered life-changing injuries.
Carole confronted Dom and demanded to know why he hadn’t told her about the accident and his stoma bag, but he continued to push her away.
Later, Sacha told a distraught Carole she has rapidly progressing vascular dementia and is going to need full-time support soon.
He’s not ready to cope with this, he’s too brittle

Carole decided to hide her diagnosis from Dom following the bombshell about his accident, telling Sacha: “He’s not ready to cope with this, he’s too brittle.”
Will she open up to Dom before it’s too late?
Fans were devastated for Carole.
One said: “Carole has vascular dementia.”
Another added: “NO NOT CAROLE. ffs holby.”
A third said: “How dare Holby give Carole Dementia! Our queen does not deserve being treated like this by the writers, and why do they insist on torturing Dom even more?”
Elsewhere last night in the medical drama, Abs Shah arrived in Holby after an accident and began searching for Hanssen.
Max did her best to care for him but was perplexed when she found him on the bed that his grandfather Reyhan had died in.
Viewers know that Sahira has confessed to killing Reyhan, but that Max is starting to wonder if Abs is the real murderer.
Max tracked Hanssen down and told him he has 24 hours to help Abs before she calls social services.
