Maharashtra on Wednesday recorded 8,602 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the number of active cases to 1,06,764. Besides, 170 COVID-19 deaths were reported in the day, taking the number of total fatalities to 1,26,390.
6,067 patients were discharged in the day, taking the tally to 59,44,801. The recovery rate in the state rose to 96.17%. The case fatality rate in the state is 2.04%.
Currently, 5,80,771 people are in home quarantine and 4,309 people are in institutional quarantine.
The Mumbai circle--which consists of MCGM, Thane, TMC, Navi Mumbai, KDMC, Ulhasnagar MC, Bhivandi Nijampur MC, Mira Bhayandar MC, Palghar, Vasai Virar MC, Raigad, Panvel MC--recorded 1801 new cases.
The Nashik circle--which consists of Nashik, Nashik MC, Malegaon MC, Ahmednagar, Ahmednagar MC, Dhule, Dhule MC, Jalgaon, Jalgaon MC, Nandurbar--reported 655 fresh COVID-19 cases.
The Pune circle--which includes Pune, PMC, PCMC, Solapur, Solapur MC, Satara--recorded 2475 new cases.
The Kolhapur circle reported 3076 new cases, Aurangabad circle 64, Latur circle 278, Akola circle 45, and Nagpur circle recorded 208 new COVID-19 cases.
Meanwhile, there 10 other districts which have a high positivity rate against the weekly average of 4.36%. The tribal dominated Nandurbar district tops the list with a record high positivity rate of 11.72% followed by Kolhapur (9.85%), Sangali (9.20%), Satara (8.23%), Ratnagiri (7.91%), Pune (7.74%), Raigad (6.98%), Sindhudurg (5.94%), Aurangabad (5.10%) and Beed (4.64%).
Besides, against the weekly average of 0.14%, the growth in number of COVID-19 patients is high in Kolhapur (0.86%), Sangali (0.64%), Ratnagiri (0.58%), Sindhudurg (0.56%), Satara (0.43%), Raigad (0.32%), Solapur (0.21%), Palghar (0.20%), Beed (0.18%) and Ahmednagar (0.16%).
