Mumbai: Civic Body increased days for students, people working overseas

The Mumbai Civic Body has increased the days for students who are pursuing their education abroad, people who are working overseas and athletes who would be participating in the Tokyo Olympics as they can now get themselves vaccinated between Monday to Saturday.

The inoculation would be done at the seven dedicated COVID vaccination centres of the BMC. Earlier, the vaccination was done from Monday to Wednesday. This particular leeway will be valid till 31st of August, 2021.

As per the guidelines of the Central Government accessibility with regards to taking vaccine shots is being brought in for those who are pursuing their education in foreign universities or individuals who travelling abroad for their work and for the athletes who are participating in the forthcoming Tokyo Olympics.

Individuals who have to travel abroad and have not completed 84 days after taking first dose of Covishield vaccine then they can take the second dose after 28 days. Besides, the passport number would be mentioned on the Covishield certificate.

BMC commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal has written to the Chief Secretary of Maharashtra, Sitaram Kunte to exempt domestic passengers who are fully vaccinated from carrying the negative RT-PCR test report while arriving in Mumbai.

The BMC chief in his letter has said that there are many passengers who are taking up journey to Delhi or other business places in the morning and they are returning back on the same day in the evening or next day morning. In such a case conducting RT-PCR test and getting the report become impossible.
