- "Delta is relentless," she told her followers. The Delta variant is 60% more transmissable than previous strains of the virus.
- "If you are not vaccinated and not wearing a mask, I assure you, you don't want to feel like this," she said on Instagram, sharing her symptoms.
While caring for someone she was unaware had Covid-19, Catt Sadler has revealed she contracted the virus even though she wore a mask and is fully vaccinated. "Delta is relentless and highly contagious and grabbed a hold of me even after getting vaccinated," she told her followers on Tuesday.
The entertainment reporter shared a photo of herself in bed, writing: "I assumed I would be fine. Well I'm not. I'm one of many breakthrough cases that we are seeing more of each and every day."
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, no vaccines are 100%, and breakthrough cases are expected, but only a tiny fraction of fully vaccinated people, around 0.00003%, have been hospitalised with Covid-19. Experts confirm both the vaccines used in South Africa - Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson (J&J) - are effective against the 60% more transmissable Delta variant that has taken the country into a devastating third wave.
The E! News host said her symptoms "are not mild", and she's been battling for two days with a fever, headaches, extreme congestion, fatigue, and "even some weird puss coming out of my eye".
She urged her followers to wear a mask. "I assure you, you don't want to feel like this and not only are you bound to get sick eventually you'll be spreading it to others," she told her followers.
