NAGPUR: In a major respite to plot holders, Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) board has extended the deadline for payment of ground rent by three months.
The board also decided to bring all Gunthewari layouts under NIT.
As per rule, land holders are supposed to pay the ground rent by May 31 every year. There are around 80,000 plot holders and of them only about 22,000 have paid the ground rent as on date.
The relaxation has come as a respite for the plot holders, many of whom are facing financial crisis due to Covid-induced lockdown.
NIT trustees MLA Vikas Thakre, standing committee chairman Prakash Bhoyar and Sanjay Bangale attended the meeting convened by NIT chairman Manoj Kumar Suryawanshi.
As many 58,000 plot holders will get the benefit.
