The tall claims of pharma companies regarding the corona vaccine are still coming to the fore. Adar Poonawalla, CEO of Serum Institute of India, which has not provided enough Covidshield doses to the country even in the last six months, has now claimed that they will also provide Sputnik vaccine in the coming months in lakhs. For this, the first batch can also be brought in the coming September.
In fact, six companies have signed an agreement to make the Sputnik vaccine in India. One of them is also the Serum Institute of India. About a month ago, the Drug Controller General of India had also given permission to Serum Company to make Sputnik, but after that, the matter is still stuck in the name of complete technology transfer.
Looking at the current situation, the Sputnik vaccine is available only in private hospitals. The first batch of Sputnik vaccines arrived in India on May 1, but even after 70 days, this vaccine is still coming to India from abroad. The situation is that the demand for this vaccine is highest even in private hospitals.
Now, according to the Russian manufacturer Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), the target is to produce 300 million doses in India every year. He has again made a statement that technology is being transferred to make the vaccine. On this, Adar Poonawalla, CEO, Serum Institute, even said, I am very happy to partner with (RDIF) for Sputnik Vaccine.
We hope to prepare lakhs of doses in the coming months. The trial batch will start in September. In view of the more effectiveness and safety of the Sputnik vaccine, it is necessary that it is available all over India and the world. Along with this, the government and international institutions will have to work together in view of the transition.
