MANGALURU: Torrential rains in the Western Ghats saw the
Kumaradhara ghat at
Kukke Subrahmanya temple, about 100km from Dakshina Kannada district, getting submerged on Wednesday.
The Avabrhruta Katte, washrooms and the dressing rooms near the ghat were also inundated.
The region has been receiving continuous downpour for the past four days.
The Kumaradhara river is flowing above danger level, but the new bridge built near the submersible bridge, is still traffic worthy.
Devotees who have arrived at the
Kukke have been carrying out the ritualistic bathing on the river bank instead of the ghat.
With
Karnataka unlocking temples, devotees mostly from Bengaluru and other districts throng the famous Kukke Subrahmanya temple.
The temple is also one of the highest revenue earners for the endowment department.
