Justice S M Subramaniam imposed the tax on actor after Actor Vijay challenged the tax demand made by the commercial department. HC dismissed the plea made by Vijay and subsequently has released a condemning statement to the actor. The judge had said that “Those fans see such actors as real heroes and have become the rulers of the state. They are not expected to behave like a ‘reel hero’ Tax evasion is to be construed as anti-national habit, attitude, mindset and unconstitutional”.

Adding to the statement,”These actors portray themselves as champions to bring social justice in society. Their movies are against corrupt activities in the society. But they are evading tax and not in consonance with the provisions of the statutes”. 

The HC has instructed the actor to pay the tax to tamilnadu Chief Ministers public Relief fund to fight Covid-19 within 2 weeks. Actor Vijay is currently shooting for his upcoming movie ‘Beast’ in chennai. The movie stars pooja hegde as the female lead which is Bankrolled by sun Pictures and music produced by Anirudh Ravichander.
