Goa CM Pramod Sawant
PANAJI: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday directed government-run corporations in the state to prepare vision documents so that they become swayampurna (self-reliant). He also directed each of them to make an inventory of the land available with them. “We have asked them to take control of the property lying unused across the state,” he said.
Sawant recently met top officials of all state corporations, and said that they should be self-sustained. He said they can also come up with ideas of generating revenue.
“The state government will provide whatever boost corporations require to become self-sufficient,” he said. “The MDs and CEOs are working hard, and some have already prepared vision documents.”
The CM said that every year, the government transfers officers from one corporation to another, which has led to changes in execution of policies. With a vision document, he said that “when a new managing director comes to the corporation, he can take ahead and execute the vision”.
When asked if the government would reduce funds given to corporations, Sawant said this can be thought of at a later stage. Sawant said that even the Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) has organised programmes to generate revenue.
He said that it is the responsibility of every government establishment to ensure that the department or corporation is contributing to the progress of the state.
