India tour England: Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin takes a fifer against Somerset; Watch video: Team India’s off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who is currently playing for Surrey in the ongoing County Championship claimed a fifer. During Somerset’s second innings, Ashwin toppled five wickets in the 13 overs he bowled. The match between the two sides is still on where Somerset are playing their second innings.

Ashwin, who decided to play County Championship to prepare for the five-match Test series against England, looks in fine touch with the ball. During Somerset’s first innings he claimed a wicket and was economical with the ball. While he maintained an economy of 2.30 in the first innings, he came marvelous in the second where he maintained an economy of 1.8 besides claiming five wickets.
Ashwin took the wickets of Steven Davies (7), Tom Lammonby (3), James Hildreth (14), George Bartlett (12), and Roelof van der Merwe (7) in the second innings as Somerset was reduced to 60/7, with the lead at 249.
India tour of England: Team India ace spinner R Ashwin, who played for Surrey in the county against Somerset on Sunday, became the first spinner in 11 years to bowl the first over of the match.
The Indian spinner, however, was disappointing with the bat where he returned without scoring any runs during Surrey’s first innings.
The county game Ashwin is taking part in will be played at The Oval which will also host the fourth game of the India vs England series.
The County match ends on July 14, the day Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and others rejoin Team India’s bio-bubble in Durham.
