HYDERABAD: Two days after expelling P Kaushik Reddy from the party, the
Telangana Congress has expedited its preparations for the ensuing by-poll to Huzurabad assembly constituency by appointing an 18-member core team to prepare the election strategy.
Kaushik Reddy had contested the Huzurabad election on Congress ticket in 2018 and finished as a runner up. He was expelled for alleged anti-party activities.
A Revanth Reddy, the new president of the state Congress unit, has appointed co-ordinators and in-charges of mandals, towns and the assembly constituency.
This core team comprises two former MPs, a former minister, an MLC, an MLA and former legislators.
The All India Congress Committee (AICC) appointed chairman of
Election Management and Strategy Committee and former deputy chief minister Damodar Rajanarasimha will be the overall in-charge of the core team and the by-poll to Huzurabad assembly segment.
Damodar Raja Narasimha belongs to the Scheduled Caste (SC), a community which has over 45,000 voters in the Huzurabad constituency.
He along with his core team members will not only shortlist a panel of names comprising top three candidates with winning prospects but would also study the ground situation and prepare the election strategy.
Based on the report submitted by the core team, the Congress will launch its campaign and other election-related work in the constituency.
