The South African Football Association (SAFA) president Danny Jordaan has given his support to Kaizer Chiefs ahead of their CAF Champions League final against Al Ahly.

The Glamour Boys have boarded an airplane to Morocco for the Champions League decider set to take centre stage at the Mohamed V Stadium on Saturday.

Jordaan said he hopes that Amakhosi follow in the footsteps of Orlando Pirates, who won the prestigious tournament in 1995 and more recently Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016.

"This match is historical for Kaizer Chiefs, and it would be tremendous for Amakhosi to win this edition," said Jordaan as quoted by the official SAFA website.

"There has been so much happening in the country, depressing developments, and winning the Champions Trophy would give South Africans some really much needed good news."

Jordaan added: "Kaizer (Motaung) has done tremendous work for South African football and winning the CAF Champions League title will be befitting reward for the hard work he has dedicated to the game.

"He is an icon of South African football, and I am wishing him all the best."

"To the technical team (of Kaizer Chiefs), support staff and players, I want to wish you all the best in Morocco,” Jordaan continued.

"You have come this far, so go there and enjoy yourself. Make the country proud. South Africa seriously need some positive lift.

"Believe in yourself and play for the club’s badge, your country, family and for your careers. In Kaizer Chiefs we believe," he concluded.

Kick-off is at 21:00 (SA time).
