Coronavirus Statistics India, Covid-19 Cases and Deaths in India on July 13 Updates, Third Wave Latest News, Corona Vaccination Highlights: India reported 31, 443 fresh Covid-19 infections on Tuesday, the much-delayed health bulletin says. The official data says that it is after the gap of more than 118 days that India has recorded such low Covid numbers. The national recovery rate has further improved and is currently at 97.28 per cent. In another sign of receding second wave, the number of active cases in India has also gone down. The health ministry data says that India has 4,31, 315 active Covid cases as of 8 am today. This is the lowest in the last 109 days. The number of recoveries is more than number of infections with 49,007 people beating coronavirus. India’s daily positivity rate stands at 1.40 per cent.
Meanwhile, the CoWin data shows that there was a single-day increase in the total doses administered on July 12. Over 40 lakh Covid jabs were given against the figure of 12 lakh on July 11. In terms of cumulative figures, India’s vaccination programmed has administered 38.14 crore doses. This means that India has roughly covered 30 per cent of the total population. At a time when other nations are thinking and giving Covid vaccines to children, it is an alarming trend that India’s vaccination rate is faltering.
Another key issue for India’s Covid war is situation in Kerala and Maharashtra. These are two states that have not seen minor ebb in the daily caseload even as the national Covid tally has gone down significantly. Now latest reports suggest that the increase in the ‘R’ factor or reproduction rate may be the reason behind the surge in these two states. As witnessed during the last two waves of coronavirus infections, Maharashtra has been the epicentre of the Covid-19 infections. Experts say that if this situation is not brought under control, it can lead to a fresh spike on a national level.
Another worrying sign is the slowdown in the daily vaccination rate in India. The CoWin data of the week gone by shows a huge drop in the doses administered every day. With somewhere around 34 lakh shots given each day, the average is similar to what India saw before the June 21st launch of the new vaccine programme.
