CHANDIGARH: Aiming to vaccinate the city’s entire population (eligible adults above 18 years of age) before a possible third wave of Covid-19, UT adviser
Dharam Pal has set a target for the health department to cover all 7.12
lakh beneficiaries by August 15.
UT adviser Dharam Pal said instructions have been issued to cover eligible beneficiaries by August 15. The administration has already engaged organisations, RWAs, religious groups, traders and industrial bodies, to encourage people to come forward for vaccination. The UT is also planning to make at least one dose of vaccination mandatory for certain government services. However, the final decision will be taken soon.
He said the health department is also sending mobile vaccination vans to various places, including rural areas, so that people can simply walk in and get inoculated. The department will conduct door-to-door vaccination rounds from August16 to 31.
Meanwhile, UT administrator
VP Singh Badnore appealed to the corporate sector to purchase vaccines from private hospitals on cost-to-cost basis, out of
CSR funds and donate them to government hospitals.
