And now, Nadine Mulkerrin, 28, is fronting a new eating disorder series in which she meets an anorexia survivor who weighed just over 6 six stone when he was admitted to hospital and had to have his heart restarted.
In the final instalment of the Hollyoaks:IRL, Ben Robinson, explains how eating disorders are indiscriminate, and something that can affect all ages and genders, not just girls as he previously believed.

In the episode Ben discusses how his negative relationship with food began in his early teens after wanting to look good for the opposite sex.
He At 16-years-old, he weighed 41kg and on being admitted to hospital, had to have his heart restarted throughout the evening.
Ben describes picking his GCSE results up in the morning and in the evening being sent to the mental health clinic; a surreal experience that lasted over 6 months.
Eventually, and after some honest conversations, he managed to begin slowly putting on weight, and turn his life around.

Talking to Nadine, Ben admitted: 'Anorexia always controlled me in the past, whereas I control anorexia now, so it's something that I don't think will ever go away, but it's something that I won't let control my life'.
Back in 2018, Nadine embarked on an impactful storyline when her soap character, Cleo, had an eating disorder, which led to her having a heart attack.
In recent Hollyoaks scenes, Cleo suffered a relapse after having been in recovery for three years.

Nadine spent months researching the role, which included meeting Ben in 2018 through the charity, BEAT.
For this final Hollyoaks:IRL episode, Nadine reunites with Ben, as they discuss his recovery, the impact of lockdown, and how he is today.
