Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his desire to keep the Kanwar yatra on hold and urged his Uttar Pradesh counterpart, yogi Adityanath, to reconsider his decision to allow the yatra. It is also said that yogi had called cm Dhami trying to purse him for Kanwar yatra.

The state of uttarakhand announced in june that the Kanwar yatra 2021 will be cancelled owing to the COVID-19 epidemic.
