UDUPI: A woman, who had returned from Dubai, was found murdered at her apartment in Brahmavar on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Vishala Ganiga, 35, a native of Gujjadi in Kundapur taluk.
In a complaint, Vasu Ganiga S (70), father of the victim, stated that Vishala was married to Ramakrishna Ganiga of Beejooru. The couple were settled in Dubai along with their daughter Arvi.
Vishala, along with her daughter, had returned from Dubai on July 2. The mother and daughter were staying in their flat at Kumragodu in Bramhavar taluk.
On Monday, Vishala travelled to Gujjadi in an autorickshaw with her parents and daughter. On reaching Gujjadi, Vishala returned in the same auto to withdraw money from Brahmavara branch of a bank.
When she was not reachable at around 12pm, father Vasu informed his other daughter Vinaya. Later, he and Vinaya went to the flat of Vishala at around 6.10pm and they found the main door locked. Using the spare key, they opened the door and found Vishala lying dead in her bedroom, police said.
A black power cable was found around Vishala’s neck. Police suspect that the miscreant might have used the power cable to strangle the victim. Gold ornaments worth Rs 2 lakh were also missing from the body. A case has been registered under Section 449, 302 and 392 of the IPC.
