JHANSI: It was seer efforts of a woman from Jhansi whose love for animals helped a nine month old blind female stray dog to get a new home in Pennsylvania city in United States after she was rescued six months ago in a pathetic condition with burn marks.
Mini Khare (29) who runs a NGO named Jeev Asray Samiti recalls how she got a rescue call by some anonymous person in February about a puppy lying in a miserable condition on Gwalior road.
Upon reaching the spot along with her team members, she found a female puppy completely blind with burn marks on her face. The dog whom they later on named Sherry was brought to a veterinary doctor who treated her bruises.
“After Sherry got recovered a big question arised where to keep her as I have no proper shelter for them”, said Mini, whose love for animals inspired her to form the NGO in 2019.
As a result, Mini started a social media campaign to find some suitable adopter. Her efforts brought good result when she got in touch with one veterinary doctor from Delhi, Dr Premlata Choudhery who contacted one Helen Brown in USA where she runs a NGO for stray animals.
As a result Sherry was brought to Delhi where she was further treated and finally sent to Pennsylvania. Here, Sherry was formally adopted on Monday, starting a new life in USA.
Till now Mini has rescued around three hundred stray animals, all because of her soft corner for them since her childhood.
