Jake Daniels / Jake Daniels/The EnterpriseThe “Bulls on Bolivar” fundraising event is expected to go off without a hitch this morning to raise money for the Port Bolivar Volunteer Fire Department.
The event, which will be held on Sunday at 1605 Texas 87 in Crystal Beach, will feature bull riding, kids’ games, food and shopping vendors and a concert by Beaumont native Casey Chestnutt.
There will be two bull riding performances with the first one kicking off at noon and the second one taking place at 6 p.m.
The bull riding event is produced by Chute 2 Productions, which puts on bull riding festivals across Texas, according to a news release from the volunteer fire department. They will set up an arena with 1,500-seat capacity aluminum bleachers.
Chestnutt will take the stage at 8 p.m. after opening act Michael Farrell.
The funds will go toward adding an engine/tanker truck to the PBVFD’s response fleet. PBVFD provides fire and emergency medical services on Bolivar Peninsula, which sees more than two million visitors a year, according to a news release.
Tickets start at $5 for children older than 5 and $10 for adults. Children under 5 get in free.
