ASDC has proudly
received “SKOCH Award” at 74th SKOCH Summit which was recently conducted by
SKOCK Foundation. This award was given for the project “World Bank iStar
Program - School to Employment.
The SKOCH Awards were incepted to recognise innovative practices and
models related to Economic & Social Infrastructure Development segments in
India. According to Nikunj Sanghi, Chairman, ASDC, the SKOCH award is like an
Oscar for skilling. He said that the team participated in the ISTAR program
which they were doing for the World Bank so that the people are ready for
employment after school. The focus was mainly on women and disabled people.
Within a short time, World Bank iSTAR Program with ASDC has been
able to create a mark in skilling panorama. This program has been able to catch
the attention of many candidates who have been placed in the automobile
industry after acquiring skills from the centre of excellence.
As per Arindam Lahiri, CEO, ASDC, the work that the team has done in
Maharashtra and Rajasthan has been recognised where training was given to women
who have dropped out of the schools.
