New Delhi, July 12

Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh has sought more time to respond to Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons in a money laundering case, citing ill health and surgery.

The ED is likely to consider Singh’s request and a fresh summon would be served on him, officials said.

Singh has been summoned in connection with his letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray earlier this year in which he had accused former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh of extorting money to the tune of Rs 100 crore.

Days after his ouster from the post of the city police chief, Singh had alleged that Deshmukh had asked former cop Sachin Waze to collect Rs 100 crore per month from bars and restaurants in Mumbai. — TNS
