India reported 31,443 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, according to data provided by the Union Health Ministry. The country's total death toll has also increased to 4,10,784 with 2,020 new fatalities. This hike comes after Madhya Pradesh revised its COVID death toll data.
Out of the total deaths, Madhya Pradesh has reported 1,481 deaths, while the rest are largely from Maharashtra and Kerala. The Health Ministry has emphasised that more than 70% of these fatalities have occured due to the presense of comorbidities.
New cases are now the lowest in 118 days as India's active cases have also decreased to 4,31,315, making up 1.4% of the total cases. India's national recovery rate has increased to 97.28%.
India's positivity rate has been less than 3% for 22 days, and the weekly rate is now at 2.28%. As part of India's massive inoculation drive, total doses administered have reached 38.14 crore.
