Kraft has left the internet in uproar after announcing the launch of its newest cheesy dish: a sweet macaroni and cheese-flavored ice cream.
The food brand teamed up with Brooklyn-based ice creamery Van Leeuwen on the creation of the funky frozen flavor, which it describes as the 'ultimate summer treat'.
'To create the creamy treat, Van Leeuwen churned the familiar, cheesiness of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese into their ice cream made with only a few ingredients,' a Kraft spokesperson explained.
'The result? A cool, creamy scoop of ice cream that brings that comforting, nostalgic feeling from a warm bowl of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese.'

I scream, you scream, we all scream... Kraft has sparked a horrified frenzy among social media users after debuting a new macaroni and cheese-flavored ice cream
Unsurprisingly, social media reaction to the launch was swift - and less-than-impressed, with many users voicing their horror and 'disgust' at the unlikely collaboration.
'This food chimera needs to melt in hell,' one person said of the mac and cheese ice cream, while another simply responded: 'How to ruin ice cream.'
A third chimed in: 'Umm, what? No!'
Others were even more blunt in their dismissal of the collaboration, labeling it 'disgusting', 'gross' and 'horrifying'.
However there were a few who voiced slightly more sympathetic opinions about the cheesy creation, with some even confessing that they would like to taste test the ice cream before expressing their final opinion about it.
'Delicious or disgusting? Only one way to find out...' one Twitter user wrote, while another joked: 'Kraft mac and cheese ice cream is a food fever dream come true.'

Do you dare? The ice cream, which was created in collaboration with Van Leeuwen and has Kraft's macaroni and cheese flavor churned into, is described as the 'ultimate summer treat'

Eat up: Kraft explained that it created the ice cream because it wanted to put a more refreshing summery spin on its famous comfort food
When put to the taste test by several editors at DailyMail.com, the ice cream certainly proved itself to be a divisive dish - however the majority of people brave enough to try a scoop determined that the concept was far more horrifying than the actual flavor, with some even admitting to enjoying their bite.
One person said of their taste test: 'The mac n’ cheese ice cream was completely different from what I assumed it’d be – who wanted a burger, frozen and laden with sugar, I thought. But a spoonful was all I needed to change my thought on it.
'It was actually really good – very much like butterscotch toffee, with some salted caramel on top. The aftertaste, however, did leave some faint taste of mac-n-cheese, so overall, I’d definitely eat it again.'
Another DailyMail.com staffer agreed, saying: 'The thought of mac and cheese ice cream initially seemed bizarre and quite unappealing.
'However, I was very pleasantly surprised. it somehow managed to taste both sweet and savory at the same time, and was incredibly smooth and creamy. I'd definitely have it again.'
One editor urged people to 'disengage their brains' before tasting the ice cream, noting that it is a case of putting 'matter over mind' in order to really appreciate the unique flavors.

Outrage: Social media users were horrified by the idea of a macaroni and cheese-flavored ice cream - however several DailyMail.com editors insisted it tastes much better than it sounds
'It was a case of matter over mind,' he said. 'While my brain screamed "don't be so disgusting" as I contemplated the mac and cheese ice cream, I decided to let my mouth make the final call. And I am very glad I did.
'Creamy, delicious and no doubt artery-clogging. The essence of good ice cream. Just disengage your brain before trying.'
According to Kraft, the inspiration behind the sweet, yet salty, ice cream concoction was putting a summery spin on a wintery comfort food, with the company's Senior Associate Brand Manager Emily Violett saying: 'We know that there is nothing more refreshing on a hot summer day than ice cream.
'That is why we wanted to combine two of the most iconic comfort foods to create an ice cream with the unforgettable flavor of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese we all grew up with.
'As big fans of Van Leeuwen, we knew they’d be the perfect partner to create this ice cream with us. Not only does it taste delicious, but it’s also made with high quality ingredients and contains no artificial flavors, preservatives, or dyes just like our Kraft Macaroni & Cheese.'
For those daring enough to try the cheesy ice cream, it is available to buy online for $12 a pint, and it will also be sold by the scoop in Van Leeuwen stores from July 14.
