Condolence message on Dr. Mohendro's demise

Imphal, 10th July, 2021

World Meetei Convention (WMC) condoled the demise of Dr. Yumnam Mohendro Singh aged 89 years. He was the founding President of Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee of Manipur (STDCM), which was founded in the year 2011.

“Migrants came to Manipur and included in the Scheduled Tribes list whereas the original native people were left out. This is painful.”, lamented Dr. Mohendro.

He had guided a movement which was aimed at saving the Meetei Community from extinction. Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee of Manipur under the leadership of Dr. Mohendro had carried out two mass rallies at Imphal in the year 2016 and 2019 demanding inclusion of Meetei in the ST list. Lakhs plus Meetei people participated in both the rallies.

We wish to remember Dr. Mohendro as “Athouba yelloumee”.
