HBO Max's Pirate Series 'Our Flag Means Death' Starts Filming - See the First Set Photos!

HBO Max has a pirate comedy series heading to the streaming service and we have the first photos from set!

The cast of Our Flag Means Death was spotted getting to work on the upcoming series on Monday (July 12) in Malibu, Calif.

Actors Rhys Darby and Ewen Bremner were spotted in the new set photos. Taika Waititi is directing the pilot and appearing in the show as the famous pirate Blackbeard.

Variety reports the the show “is loosely based on the true adventures of Stede Bonnet (Darby), a pampered aristocrat who abandoned his life of privilege to become a pirate.”

Ewen, best known for appearing in Trainspotting and Wonder Woman, will be playing Buttons. Rhys is best known for Flight of the Conchords and Yes Man.
