Gurgaon: The Gurgaon Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has decided to do a special repair of the road between Huda City Centre and Subhash Chowk to help the commuters. The project will include filling of the potholes and fixing the footpaths along the 8 km stretch.
The service road along the stretch is broken at many points and those too will be repaired on priority. Talking about the project, a GMDA official said that the road connects half a dozen important roads in the city and hence the repair project will help thousands of commuters.
Besides, the road also connects the city with the busiest metro station -- Huda City Centre metro station. “We have floated the tenders for the project and invited agencies for the civic work. The project costs Rs 7.5 crores in all,” said the official. The work on these roads is only Kiley to start after the monsoon has passed.
Sources said that around 20,000 people use the road daily. GMDA had last year made the first dedicated cycle track along the same stretch. A year later the tracks see illegal parking at multiple spots now and then. GMDA also made its first model pedestrian island on the crossing near the GMDA office.
Over the last two months, the metropolitan authority has invited tenders for the repair of multiple roads in the city. The roads include sector dividing roads for sector 45/46, 29/30. 45/52, 51/52, 42/5, outer road in sector 26 and the road near sector 72A. Additionally, GMDA has floated tenders for the repair of two major roads in the city including a stretch on SPR and the road connecting Sarhaul toll to Kapashera border.
SPR among other roads in the city currently have multiple craters and potholes and with the monsoon expected in the next few days, the unkempt roads will once again become an issue for the commuters.
