New Delhi
One Electric
becomes the first Indian electric two-wheeler maker to start exports of its
Made-In-India motorcycle. The first batch of Kridn, One Electric’s flagship
motorcycle, has been shipped to Kenya.
The company
plans to export to four more African countries before expanding to South
America and Europe in 2022. The export targets for the first year will be 3000
units.
African markets prefer using motorcycles, and
the Chinese makers dominate the two-wheeler segment. One Electric’s entry will
challenge the Chinese dominated market.
In India, the
Kridn e-motorcycle mainly targets the e-commerce segment. The company also
intends to set up a manufacturing unit in Uttar Pradesh or Maharashtra and
commence production by 2021. One Electric is currently working with its 25
dealerships across six states in India.
Kridn, which
means ‘to play’ in Sanskrit, is designed, built and manufactured with a robust
structure and a metal body for heavy road conditions, heavy loading and can
withstand high temperatures.
