music legend Illayaraja is worshipped as a demi-god by his ardent fans. His songs live through generations and are timeless. He can’t be criticized based on his works by many. But, raja has made several actions that lead to the saturation of his public image.

It all started when he filed a case against his beloved friend and colleague late S.P. bala Subramaniam not to sing the songs composed by him in any public stages. The issue created a huge storm in the industry. Raja, who was stamped as a guy with a heavy head on several occasions, then earned another black mark.

He then started asking royalty for his songs used by others. Even though some of his actions are legally correct, a man of his stardom and finesse is not expected to do such things, feels the general public. In the movie 96, some of his songs were used. While asked about this in an interview, raja slammed the music director by uttering nasty words which are ‘ Aanmai illadhavan’ – ‘Infertile man’ for using his songs.

A set of fans made a tribute video which was a mash-up of his songs. It is now removed after a copyright strike from Illayaraja, reports suggest. The team made an extraordinary effort to make that video for the love of Raja. But, this action would have hurt them real hard. The fans who saw the video were very unhappy with this and they trolled Illayaraja with every possible template.
